Random Encounter 3/3/11

Good afternoon and welcome back to another exciting post of AWGA. Yes I did skip yesterday and no I’m not going to apologize.

If you’ve been paying attention to the Game Developers Conference then you would have seen the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer. Trailer shows off plenty of sword play, some mini-games, a boss, and of course the mysterious person. Watch it below since I now know how to post videos from the interwebs

Shacknews has discovered that there will be a Mortal Kombat demo coming out this month! This is exciting since that I want to make sure this version doesn’t suck compared to the last one. Mortal Kombat vs. DC left a very foul taste in my mouth. Shack has the demo listed for PS3 owners to be released on the 8th for Plus users and 15th for normal users. 360 owners are out of luck as there is no official release date for it. Click here for the Shacknews page

GET OVER HERE!
From 1up.com they have an interesting article regarding Mirrors Edge. Frank Gibeau, the head hancho for EA games has stated that they haven’t abandoned the poor series and that in fact they are working on ideas for creating new games. From some of his statements they are trying to find ways to make the sequel a hit (aka their trying to make sure they make money off of it.) If you want to check out more go to 1up and do a little light reading.

Will we see more free running action from DICE?
I’ll be back later tonight. I’m working on a little overview for this ridiculous iPhone game that I’m a little addicted to. Now begone and go enjoy the sunlight!

Late Night Training! 3/1/11

Welcome back! I missed you, I really did. I baked a cake for you, but I ate it. So let’s get down to the dirty business of gaming news.

For you sorry lost souls who play Minecraft and also for those other lost souls who play trading card games listen up! The creators of Minecraft and the sick twisted man known as Tycho from Penny Arcade are teaming up to make a CCG. Scroll as its being called right now seeks out to take the sweet juicy insides of trading card games and dispose of the flaws. Some early pictures of the cards are up right now on Kotaku’s website if you want to take a gander.

A peak at some of the potential card candidates
Good news for anyone who likes games that tests the brink of your sanity! Alice goes back to Wonderland to commit multiple homicides in Alice: Madness Returns on June 14th. The game takes place 10 years after the last nightmare as a dark presence begins to take over. If this version of Wonderland is getting darker I think I’ll pass on jumping through the rabbit hole. Check out this Gamespy page to check out bloody goodness.

Add Alice to the list of people not to mug

In case you were wondering yes the Game Developers Conference has been underway. If you want to keep up with all the gaming goodness then check out GameTrailers who has a whole page dedicated to the GDC. Want a link? Well you have to ask politely first…
Ok here it is! Right here!

Dead Island, one of the many games featured at GDC

And that is that. Check back tomorrow for another Random Encounter. Goodnight!

Random Encounter 3/1/11

Welcome back to another exciting round of news updates! What will we find? Who knows! Will it be some juicy tidbits of delicious news or the last bit of non-moldy food in the back of your pantry? Whatever we find we shall devour it!

Big news for Shin Megami Tensei fans as the announcement of an American release for the latest entry has finally arrived. Catherine should be hitting our shores in the summer of this year. If you haven’t been keeping up on the details of this game shame on you! Instead of another RPG, Catherine is more of a puzzle solving game but still keeps the dating sim elements. From the video’s I’ve seen I won’t be surprised if this game gets an M rating just on the sexual content. If you want more information check out this IGN page. Oh and watch out for giant forks…

I'm not kidding, stay away from the forks
Now for even more exciting news! Platinum Games, those zany guys who made Bayoneta and other great games, is now creating their first online multiplayer game. Anarchy Reigns is all about destructive combos and killing a man just to watch them bleed. The game is described as if Bayoneta and Power Stone had a baby, while on speed. Even the hero from MadWorld is making a surprise visit and showing off his signature chainsaw on an arm. Check out the 1up website for some screenshots and what not.
Just your average day, in a Platinum game anyways

Finally over at Kotaku they ask one of the most important questions of our life time. What if Elder Scrolls was not a Bethesda product, but in fact created by…
Hasbro?

That’s it for now folks! Now if you excuse me, I have some tacos that need to be eaten. Nom nom nom…
